Went on line to www.max.tv yesterday to find out more info on the cctv gadget they were selling at £149.99 plus p&p they are out of stock and the statement is "that it is now a discontinued line" ( shugar )...The product code was max 462.. I hope that clears that up...
The item concerned used to attatch to the front windscreen with a sucker and could face forward out of the vehicle or be used the other way round to monitor what was going on inside the vehicle ( previously I stated it had 2 cameras in it sorry for the misinformation on that )...The 2gb card that came with the item could be changed for the largest gb card you could find... The only thing that stopped me from purchasing the cctv was the fact it had to be powered all the time it was in use and I had no where to run the leads as the cab was cluttered enough with all the other gadgets that wanted power from the cigar lighter socket..
I know there are multi cigar socket attatchments that can be fitted inside the car but there was nowhere to put one in mine... Not even the ones that fit in the cigar lighter socket as movement of the gearstick would knock them all off ( tried one and gave it away )..

Thanks Nigel, it sounds like a lot of the cameras that are on the market at the moment and a bit like the early first version of the product we have now.

Just 1 camera, no internal infrared for night vision and I would wager a lower resolution too.

There are a fair few products about at the moment that are being labelled as "car cameras" but we've tested many of them and they just don't cut the mustard - that's why we were so excited when we started testing this new one - don't get me wrong if you pay thousands you can have top notch kit but for an affordable solution our new product is head and shoulders above anything else we've come across so far.

Yes, you are right in that the system does have to be powered constantly - not necessarily via the cigar lighter though - if you are happy to do some configuration work you can power it from anywhere you like, it's just as an "out of the box" kit it will work immediately using the leads supplied.

Thanks Nigel, just been taking a look. Went to the car stuff product first.

The main things I noticed in how it differs from our system is that firstly, the camera is not built in so you have to run a cable from the camera to the recorder, aswell as a power cable.

Then, there is only one camera so you can only view either internally or externally at any one time. Also it's an infrared camera which means that although they show an external view, you would only be able to do this during the day as the infrared would reflect back off the windscreen at night and obscure your image. This is fine if you only want internal footage though.

The camera is just 380TVL, which is not considered high resolution and the device only records at 5fps, which is why the playback is a bit jerky.

It uses 2G memory maximum and so a cabbie could well run out of memory space within the time of 1 shift.

Sorry to be pointing out all the negatives but this sort of system has been out for a while and has limitations, which maybe wouldn't be noticed at first glance, hence the lower price.

The regent range product looks nice although 2G max recording means that a cabbie will probably run out of memory within just 1 shift, so you are going to have to keep deleting footage from the card or risk overwriting footage that you might need.

It doesn't mention resolution on recording frame rate which are both very important factors for any CCTV system (in car or otherwise). It also doesn't appear to mention any audio recording, this could also be vital for in taxi recording.

alibaba.com is a manufacturer and distributor contact site, so you will usually have to buy in bulk quantities from overseas for any product found on there.

kome.mk doesn't appear to be working at the moment so I'll try to take a look at their product again later.
